QMS Software and Lync Software

QMS Software and Lync Software go head to head on how to manage a start-up

Malone

How did you go about creating your channel partner program?

Welsby

Lync is currently building its channel in Australia and overseas. We are seeking partners who have experience with similar products in similar markets and who can add value and extract value from our products.

The best channel partner is a company that can sell its services and work with end users to extract full value from our tools.

Welsby

How much do you think you would sell your company for and how would you respond if you received an unsolicited offer for that amount?

Malone

An obscenely huge sum. Provided the offer was somewhat comparable with what we think is an obscenely large figure, we would probably take the money.

We might be happier to see a share sale for an obscene figure that left us some involvement in the company so we could continue to develop software.

Malone

What would you say are the best and worst parts about being a software developer in Adelaide?

Welsby

The best part is cost, relatively compared to other parts of the world, and there is also the access to the expertise that are there.

The worst part is we are a long way from the larger markets and it’s difficult to sell in Adelaide. On the positive side, that means we have to look to the world first.

We sold our first software package in the US rather than here, so Lync Software was truly born global.
